    A quantitative potassium dichromate solution was added to the sample. In a strong sulfuric acid medium, silver sulfate was used as a catalyst, and mercury sulfate was added as a chlorine ion masking agent. After the mixture was sealed at a high temperature and pressure of 165° C., the hexavalent chromium was quantified. The trivalent chromium is converted to trivalent chromium, and the color of the mixed solution is changed. The color change is measured by the spectrophotometric method to calculate the actual COD value. The consumed amount of dichromate ions corresponds to the amount of oxidizable organic substances.
